When Inspiration Hits

Inspiration

The spark of the creative process begins with inspiration. Inspiration strikes like a lightning bolt during a summer storm. It is a madness that sends into a fever pitch of activity. When inspiration strikes we must utilize it to our advantage.

Inspiration has no concept of time. It may strike at any moment of the day. Day or night. It could be during the middle of the night. Or in the middle of your current work day. Inopportune times that may hinder the creative process of inspiration.

Don’t fret about it when this occurs. Take a few minutes to jot down your ideas. Make sure that you grab the essence of the idea. When you have the free time, you’ll be able to recollect and continue upon that inspiration.

If you are granted a moment when inspiration hits and you have the time, be grateful. For there is nothing stopping you from giving it your all. Give it hell and do not stop. Paint, write, design, whatever it takes for you to act upon that inspiration.

Creativity doesn’t have a schedule. So it is essential you utilize your time when it does come. You never know what may happen when inspiration hits. Sparking a creative process that could change the course of your life.

Finding Your Purpose #5: The Lightning Bolt of Inspiration

lightning bolt of inspiration

Inspiration is a magical force for one to experience. It transcends our state of being to a higher level. Inspiration is like a bolt of lightning during a summer storm. A blinding light that we can’t help but watch in awe. Inspiration has the same power and beauty.

As with inspiration, finding your purpose can come in a flash. A lightning bolt that strikes you in such a way that you’re certain that you’ve found your purpose in life. What a beautiful day that will be in your life.

Last week you were given the secret of living and how it could aid you in finding your purpose. Now its time to learn how to find inspiration in your everyday life. Inspiration, no matter how small it may seem may be the golden ticket you’ve been searching for.

Take a look around you. I guarantee that you can find at least 10 things that could be considered inspiration. How do you find so much inspiration in one area? Awareness. It’s about building your mental awareness of your surroundings. Keeping your mind open to everything you see, hear, touch, smell, taste and thank. Leave no possibility out of finding inspiration.

In this digital age we live in, we are so obsessed with our phones or computers that we often forget to look up and view the world around us. Go for a walk in nature, visit a new place or simply take a few moments to take in your surroundings.

Awareness is essential in finding inspiration. You don’t have to actively search for it every waking moment of your day. Just keep your mind open as you go about your day. Something that you’ve passed a thousand times could spark something in you. Because you are mentally attuned to finding inspiration.

If you are inspired by something but it turns out not to be your purpose in life, so what. Don’t fret about it. At least you are mentally aware and are finding inspiration. You are on the right track. Be patient. Having something amazing takes time. Don’t forget about the small things. The can have the biggest impact on your life.

Remember inspiration can come from anywhere. It could be a book, a billboard, a video, a tree, a stranger you pass, a picture, a painting. The possibilities are endless.

So as you continue on this journey of finding your purpose, keep a mental awareness for inspiration around you. Let today be your first day in finding that inspiration that could change your life. I wish you the best in your inspirational discoveries.

Rock Bottom #4: Out From The Depths

I know that the climb out of rock bottom takes time. It isn’t something that happens overnight. If you’re still climbing that’s okay. You’re doing incredible. Don’t stop.

Soon enough you’ll climb out from the depths. All that hard work for your comeback will be that much sweeter. You can now see the light, the light being the future of an awesome life.

It’s time for you to get back to ground level. From there you will already possess the necessary tools for success. Gained in the climb from the pits of rock bottom. The persistence to never give up. The faith in yourself and in your dreams. The courage to keep pushing forward.

From ground level, the sky is the limit for your life. Because if you can escape from the clutches of rock bottom. You can do anything in life.

If you’re still fighting or just beginning the journey, keep going. No matter how long it takes, it’ll be worth it in the end.

How Bad Do You Want It?

If you want a thing bad enough

To go out and fight for it,

Work day and night for it,

Give up your time and your peace and your sleep for it

If only desire of it

Makes you quite mad enough

Never to tire of it,

Makes you hold all other things tawdry and cheap for it

If life seems all empty and useless without it

And all that you scheme and you dream is about it,

If gladly you’ll sweat for it,

Fret for it,

Plan for it,

Lose all your terror of God or man for it,

If you’ll simply go after that thing that you want.

With all your capacity,

Strength and sagacity,

Faith, hope and confidence, stern pertinacity,

If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt,

Nor sickness nor pain

Of body or brain

Can turn you away from the thing that you want,

If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it,

You’ll get it!

Berton Braley

Do you have something that you desire to have in your life? How badly do you want it? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to bring it to fruition?

See when we want something out of life there is a price that must be paid to receive it. There is no such thing as something for nothing. It isn’t always in the form of money. It consists of time, hard work, sacrifices, and adversity. Most of all it is the denial of immediate gratification that comes from settling for anything less than what you desire. No compromises.

It’s about persistence through the tough times. Taking one more step no matter what happens to you. Because you know deep in your heart that it will be worth it. You are absolutely certain of this. The unwavering faith that sees the end result even when plunged into the depths of darkness.

It’s about going all in. Burning the bridges of retreat, pressing forward with a courageous ferocity that will either succeed or perish. Sink or swim. It’s in this you’ll learn of talents that you never knew you had. Skills and abilities lying dormant within just waiting to be unleashed.

This thing that you want must become a magnificent obsession. Day and night. Every single breath and every second spent on working towards it’s achievement. Standing still and procrastinating is never an option. Just the very thought of it should drive you mad.

No surrender. Quitting isn’t in your vocabulary. Fears and doubts don’t control you anymore. They are instead used for fuel. Disappointment just means you are closer. Adversity means life is just testing you. Defeat is just a learning experience. Nothing can stop you towards the thing you want most.

Life will play a game with you. But you came to win no matter what the cost. You know that life will eventually bend to your will. Nothing can beat the will of a determined individual. You know that life will deliver the thing that you want only after you’ve gone through the test. The price has been paid. What a beautiful process it is.

So I ask you. How bad do you want it?

Finding Your Purpose: Episode #2 Passion and Purpose

So last week i touched upon what the essence of purpose was. This week I’m going to talk about what passion and purpose have in common. Knowing the similarities between the two will give you some insight on helping your find your purpose.

To put it in the simplest terms, passion and purpose are twins. Where there is one the other is close by. Passion is about doing something that you absolutely love every single minute of the day.

Passion is the fuel of finding your purpose in life. Now I know what you’re thinking. Now I have to find my passion as well? No. You don’t have to do that. All I’m saying is that loving what you do plays a major role in finding your purpose.

Let me ask you a simple question. Are you doing what you love in life right now? Your career takes up over half of your life. That’s an incredible percentage of your life. It’s a lot of time spending your limited time on this earth doing something that you don’t love. Life’s just too damn short doing anything that doesn’t excite you each morning.

Does that mean you have to quit your job right now just because you don’t like it? No but it might be time to rethink about what you want to do for a living. If your job is draining your energy, leaving you stressed and unfulfilled. You become miserable. It doesn’t matter how much money you make. If you’re miserable no amount of money in the world will make you feel happy. Maybe for a moment it will but it is a temporary sensation.

The next question is: What do you love to do?

What do you never grow tired of? What excites you with enthusiasm and curiosity to always seek new knowledge? It can be anything. Take some time and write down a list of things you love to do. It could be blogging, writing, web design, graphic design, event planning, public speaking, motivating others, helping those less fortunate, taking care of your children. These examples are just a fraction of the possibilities.

Review your list. With each item think about whether or not you could make a living doing one of those things. Don’t count anything out. Just because you can’t think of something this instant doesn’t mean it can’t work. Sometimes you have to use your imagination and think outside the box. Keep your mind open to all ideas. Anytime an idea pops into your mind, write it down.

Don’t be discouraged if nothing seems to pop out at you when first doing this. It may take some time. Stay patient and keep searching. Keep positive in knowing that you’ll find a way to find something you love. Have faith in yourself and in your abilities. Trust me you are more powerful and resourceful than you give yourself credit for.

Next week I’ll be discussing the search for finding your purpose. Until next week remember. Don’t give up and keep your mind positive. You will find your purpose one day and it will be better than your wildest dreams. Have faith and be grateful for it as if you’ve already found it.

Finding Your Purpose: Episode #1 What is the Essence of Purpose?

Finding our purpose in life is one of those deep burning questions asked by humanity. What is my purpose in life? What was I put on this earth to do? These questions keep us up at night pondering our existence. A daily crusade to find the holy grail of answers. We continue to battle each day hoping to gain some insight into this mysterious question.

But to understand how to find our purpose we must get to the core. By this I mean that we must know what the essence of purpose is. By definition purpose means the reason for which something exists or is done. That can be a multitude of answers. A fingerprint of sorts because no two sets are exactly identical by nature.

Purpose has an almost infinite number of forms in the tangible world. Too many to name. What if I told you that the essence of purpose is composed of not tangible assets you can hold in your hand but intangibles? Hard to believe I know. It’s the truth though.

At its core, purpose is the composition of thoughts, emotions and energy that gives the individual a deep sense of fulfillment that permeates through every fiber. We look outwardly to find what our purpose is in life. Money, people, material possessions, or anything else we can project into the outside world.

We must look inwardly to truly find the answer of our purpose. To the intangible qualities of its composition that can’t be seen by the human eye. It is the composition of four main qualities that I’m going to share with you. Once you know what the essence of purpose is you will know where to begin your search for it.

Here are the main qualities in the essence of purpose:

1. Peace of Mind

The mind is your most powerful tool at your disposal. It can be your greatest ally or your worst enemy. That choice is yours to make because we have been gifted with the power over but one thing, our thoughts. The mind works in mysterious ways that even to this day humanity is still trying to uncover its secrets.

When you have found your purpose in life there will be a peace within your mind, a sense of calm that can’t be shaken even in the worst of storms. Your thoughts will be dominated by positive energy with absolute faith in the end result. You are certain with your path in life and continue down it regardless of the obstacles you face.

2. Love in the Heart

Love is the most powerful of human emotions. With love anything is possible. Love is something that must be felt to truly experience its beauty and splendor. Love in its true form is pure, it is unselfishly given with no thought of return.

With your purpose it is something that you love unconditionally, from the deepest chambers of your heart. It is a labor of love in the day to day process of the endeavor. That love doesn’t dissipate, doesn’t falter, it only continues to blossom as each sunrise brings about a new day.

3. Nourishment of the Soul

To understand this we must first know the essence of life. What is the essence of life? Growth. We as humans seek constant growth in our lives. Not in the terms of growing in height. That is something we can’t control. I mean growth in all areas in life. Growth in relationships, gaining new knowledge, emotional growth, spiritual growth. Growth is essential in life because when we grow we live. When growth stops, we slowly begin dying inside.

This one is simple. When you have found your purpose you will be on a continual path of growth in your life. You will strive for more out of life on a constant basis. Why? Because your soul comes alive when you are in the pursuit of growth. You get more out of each day and find value in all of life’s experiences.

4. Bliss

Happiness is an emotion. Bliss is a state of being that is almost indescribable to the written word. Paradise is the closest word for bliss but it still doesn’t describe it enough. You know why? Because bliss is something that is intangible to the five senses we are given at birth. The only way bliss can truly be felt is when the three other factors listed above are in perfect harmony.

There is no describing this one for your purpose. All I may say is that if you have mastered the first three qualities of purpose and they are in harmony. You’ll be in bliss. How will you know? You just will. You will be certain of it without a cloud of doubt.

So now you know the essence of purpose. You now know that purpose isn’t something that can see seen by the eye or held in your hands. It’s something that is comprised of your mind, body and soul.

You have taken the first step in understanding your purpose in life. No may not know all of the answers to that burning question. That’s okay. It will come in time. The important thing is that you are on the path.

Let’s walk this path together. For everyone has a purpose. You will find yours. Don’t give up the search. I will lend a helping hand and we will find it together.

Self-Motivators

“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”

Zig Ziglar

You know the feeling when you get that initial burst of motivation, the feeling that you can conquer the world and accomplish a thousand tasks. That initial burst may last for a few days or maybe even a couple of weeks if you are lucky, but it’ll eventually dissipate.

Then the dreaded brick wall of slowing down and possibly not wanting to do what you originally set out to do. That initial motivation has long worn off and you are searching for new inspiration to keep that fire alive inside. That fire to reach that goal and to continue the journey to the end result of achieving that dream you have fixated in your mind.

That is where the application of self-motivators is essential to keep that desire inside burning white hot. A self-motivator is something that you can call upon when things seem to be going wrong or you are struggling to keep yourself moving forward. It is your “why” behind the purpose of what you are trying to achieve. It is a battle cry that will keep you going through the toughest of days.

A self-motivator can be a variety of things. A picture of a loved one, a quote, a verse, an excerpt from a piece of literature, the only factor of it is that it must have a tremendous impact upon you. Something that resonates into the deepest chambers of your soul. Take some time to find your self-motivator. It is a simple task that can reward you immensely.

Here are a few examples:

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”

Confucius

“I can, therefore I am.”

Simone Well

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”

Thomas Edison

“If you can dream it, you can do it.”

Walt Disney

“A will finds a way.”

Orison Swett Marden

Not satisfied by what you see here or what you have found so far in your search? The best thing to do then is to create your own self-motivator. Something personalized and tailored to what you want to do for your life.

When you find that self-motivator hang it where you can see it every day and look at it whenever you need a boost of motivation to get you through the day. Before you know it, that self-motivator will pop into your mind whenever you are lacking in desire to do something.

Find that self-motivator that will be your battle cry for you to achieve whatever you want in your life! Don’t stop till you find it!

Do you have any self-motivators already in place? What are they and what do they mean to you?

The View of Adversity

Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit

Napoleon Hill

Life happens. There are ups and there are downs. It’s impossible to not have some down times throughout your life. It’s an inevitable reality. Those adversities, trials, tribulations, heartbreak and failures come in varying frequency. Some experience it more than others. But one thing is certain. It happens to all of us.

During these times, the question is often asked “why me?”. The pain from these moments often drives down to the negative spectrum of emotions. That’s because it harder to be positive when times are tough, to see the light when surrounded by darkness. By no means is this an easy task, life designed it to be this way to show you the beauty that these times may have in your life.

For it is in these down moments that we learn about ourselves more than at the heights of success. They strengthen intangible qualities of our character so that when success comes our way we have paid the price that is asked of life. Adversity is in the eye of the beholder. It is how we view adversity that determines our success.

It is a view of “how may I learn something of value from this?”. We learn more from our defeats more than our successes. During the storm it is a difficult question to ask. But it is an essential question that has to be asked of ourselves. For that value found may carry with it a seed of a greater equivalent that may propel us through the adversity we are facing.

It is a shift in focus from the negative emotions that lay siege to so many searching for the wrong answers when adversity strikes to a more positive nature. Your attention diverts your energy to the thing you are focusing on. That energy holds the power of wither a positive or negative nature. It is your choice how you use your energy when faced with a problem.

When you look for something of value from a situation or experience another shift occurs. It is a shift of a more positive energy to the adversity and with that a solution can be found. This usually happens in an unexpected way so you must keep your mind open for signs. When you search, you will be able to turn the tide. Turning a negative into a positive. Be persist and search for the answers. They will come to you.

When you come out of that tough time you will be stronger because of it. The one thing that you cannot do is give up. Giving up is never the answer. If needed seek out the help of others to aid you in solving the challenge. There are always others willing to lend a helping hand, words of advice or simply just a listening ear. But in the end others can’t do it for you, they may help but it is you alone that must weather the storm and come out on the other side.

Know that these times won’t last. The sun always shines after the darkest of nights. Just because things are good right now doesn’t mean that they can’t be better in the future. Find something of beauty in this storm for it will be your saving grace and will turn the tide of your life.

Don’t You Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,

When he might have won if he stuck it out.

Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow-

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man;

Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor’s cup,

And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out-

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you can never tell how close you are-

It may be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit-

It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

-John Greenleaf Whittier

When tough times have us down or when life seems hopeless, one more step is all it might take to change the tide. Whatever it may be that we are going through we must keep moving forward. We must have faith that our lives can be better than our current situations or circumstances.

“Success is failure turned inside out”. We can’t be afraid of failure because in reality failure only exists on one condition. If you quit. The other failures that you may perceive are only temporary defeats. If you keep going you will achieve success in any endeavor that you may choose.

Those down times that you have are learning experiences. The trials, tribulations, adversities, heartbreaks and defeats teach us more about life than our successes. Embrace the experiences. Find some value in these times because they will give you something to change the tide. The one thing you can’t do is quit.

It is when you are hardest hit that you mustn’t quit because at that moment if you try one more time, it could be the success you have been seeking for your life.

So don’t give up. Take one more step regardless of your pain. On the other side is a life of your dreams and if you are still breathing there still is hope for your future. I believe that you can take one more step. I believe that you can have what you desire for your life.
