Journey of the Author #2

I’m not going to lie… I’m kind of bummed out writing this post. I was hoping to be able to share with you an excerpt from the book. I’ve been incredibly busy with this blog which I will discuss a bit more in detail later in this post. Hopefully in the next week or so I will have some sufficient content written so I can share it with you. Even if its just a paragraph.

I really didn’t have much time dedicated to writing the book in the past week. It wasn’t until a few days ago that I was able to actually sit down and spend some quality time on it. I’m still brainstorming chapter outlines on paper. I love the process of handwriting something. It helps me crystalize my ideas.

I’ve started those outlines on the second section of the book. The section I titled: building your foundation. I was able to get three chapters outlined before writing this post. In the future I will have more time to focus on writing. I did have one accomplishment with the book. I finally stopped doing outlines and began writing the first rough draft. I know that if I don’t start the process of actually putting the chapters together, my desire to write “Rock Bottom: Rise from the ashes. Rejuvenate your life.” will sit by idly.

I started the rough draft last night but wasn’t able to put that much time into as I liked. Progress is still progress. No matter how small. Since I am unable to share an excerpt with you I thought that it would only be fair to at least give you some detail into what the book is going to entail.

Rock Bottom: Rise from the ashes. Rejuvenate your life. is going to be about how to get out of rock bottom for your life and how it is actually a positive to hit that low point.

Part 1 is going to be about getting to know yourself and the world around you. It describes how the world can be a cruel teacher. How influences in your daily life shape who you are at this very moment. Getting yourself to the moment of now. An in-depth questionnaire to allow you to get to know you at your very core. Finding intangible assets to help you get more out of life. And finally how you can begin to rise out from the depths.

Parts 2 and 3 have not be completed to the point that I can give you a concise description of them. When the time is right I will share with you parts 2 and 3 for the book.

So getting back to the blog aspect. I have been putting the majority of my time and efforts in the past week to bring you the best quality content that I possibly can. I’ve been continuously writing posts, scheduling them and trying to find new ways that I can give you valuable content that can help you live a better life.

I have to admit. I’ve fallen in love with blogging. There is a certain peace about it. It allows me to experiment with ideas for the book and also helps me improve my writing on a daily basis.

So I’m going have some cool stuff I’m going to be sharing with you in the coming weeks and months for this blog. I will post these neat things as soon as they become available. Along with the scheduled blogging calendar, I will have some random posts throughout each week. I also have some new series ideas that I’m excited about.

I just want to say thank you to all of you who have supported this blog in one way or another. You’re awesome!

Journey of an Author #1 Introduction

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to start this series. As I mentioned vaguely in previous posts my ultimate goal for writing is to become a published author. It is a dream of mine that I’ve had for over the past 5 years. It’s been an on and off experience in writing it. But I’ve made the decision to make it a priority in my life.

Rewind 5 years ago, I was getting ready to quit the job I had at the time to start my own business. I took a week off before and had the idea for the book. The little spare time that I had I would write down some bullet points or a few paragraphs. Time was limited. I was talking to VC firms trying to gain funding, looking at properties and a million other things involved with starting a business. But that is another story.

Fast forward to about two months ago. I realized that something in my life was lacking. Expression. I had gotten so caught up with the tasks of my business life that I wasn’t giving myself a balance in my life. I’m a workaholic to put it lightly, if I want something I make it happen. But that same attitude created a void that made me not feel a deep sense of fulfillment. Something that every person desires.

I was going through some filing cabinets that I had, cleaning out years worth of notes, documents and various notebooks that I had (I handwrite almost everything). There it was the notebook of my book notes that I had. I put it on my desk with the thought of getting back to after all of these years. It didn’t happen.

It wasn’t until I read Finding your passion that I realized how much I missed writing in the creative sense. After finishing the book I decided then I would make the time to finally write my book.

Originally I named the book, Keep Breathing: Going from rock bottom to living your wildest dreams. After looking over some of the notes and a lot of brainstorming I realized that I couldn’t fit everything I wanted into one book. It would be way too long. So I decided to break it up into three separate books.

I’m going to make it a series. Keep breathing series. Why keep breathing because if you’re still breathing there is still hope for you to live a better life. These are going to be self-help books. It is my favorite genre and reading self-help has made a massive transformation in my life.

Right now I am working on the first book in the series. Want to know the title of it?

Rock Bottom: Rise From The Ashes. Rejuvenate Your Life

The book is about how you can rise from the depths of rock bottom and turn the tide of your life.

Why am I writing something like this? Because so many individuals fall to the pits of their own rock bottom and unfortunately some stay there for the remainder of their lives. It is a crying shame of humanity. So much wasted potential, dreams left to die, and happiness that was never brought to light.

Right now I am in the first rough draft of writing the book (yes I do hand write it). Later this week I will begin typing up the first section of the book. I will share excerpts of it during this journey of the author series. I thought that writing a book was going to be easy. But upon further research it does have a lot to it. Marketing, choosing the right book cover, formatting, editing, etc… I will learn as I go and share with you anything I find of value for any of you aspiring authors out there.

My plan for Rock Bottom is to have it published sometime in early 2020. I will keep you posted on that when I get closer to completion. As with anything in life it is a journey and I want to share my experiences with you.
